"Golden Triangle" begins as a seemingly simple episode, but before it is over the world of Miami Vice gets much, much larger.
In this two-part episode Crockett and Tubbs are undercover as hotel security trying to take down some crooked cops who are shaking down local hookers. That case has fairly quick resolution, and before it is over Crockett and Tubbs have attracted the attention of two criminals looking to rob the hotel's safety deposit boxes.
It turns out that there is a lot more at play, and after the criminals turn up dead, Lieutenant Castillo identifies markings on one of the victims as a warning from a Thai crime lord. That leads to a suspenseful hunt for the assassin and the revelation that Castillo is married.
"Golden Triangle" takes full advantage of its two-part structure, building to a larger story that teases an excellent conclusion.
